Suncoast Kids Place provides support for children, teens, and their families following the death of a significant person through peer support groups and education. Our goal is to offer support in a safe place where children, teens, and families can share their experiences as they move through their grief process.

Suncoast Kids Place has been approved by Hillsborough County’s District Review Committee to provide grief support groups in schools.  There are over 224,000 students in our county.  The Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model (CBEM) shows that 1 in 10 students in Florida will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18.  This does not include other significant deaths a child may experience.  This means over 22,000 students could potentially benefit from our grief support ministry.

There are three levels of support that Suncoast Kids Place can provide to schools.

  • Level 1 - Provide information on Suncoast Kids Place and grief and loss resources.

  • Level 2 - Provide grief and loss psychoeducation to school administration, staff, and/or students.

  • Level 3 - Provide an 8-week support group for identified students at the school. (October through December OR March through May)
